Senior Design Engineer – Design & Development

PREAMBLE

Sr Design Engineer – Design & Development is the key team member for the product design and development.  He will be the member of the design team, co-ordinate, support the team for the Design and development of the product.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (Key Result Areas – KRA)

  • Design of Mechanical components
  • Design Validation
  • Delivery / Drawing Release Management
  • Reporting & Documentation

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS – KPI

  1. Design of Mechanical components
  • Understand the Project Requirement
  • Define the Scope
  • Develop Concept Designs
  1. Design Validation
  • Validation of the Design through Design Calculations
  • Using CAE/CFD Tools Validation
  1. Delivery / Drawing Release Management
  • Ensure the Timely delivery of Design 2D Drawings
  • BOM Review and Release to Production Team
  • Release Support
  1. Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain the proper reports of the Development
  • Ensure the Documentation Complication.
  • Ensure Training provided to the Design team

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITIES

  • Responsibilities include, although are not limited to the following:
  •  Thorough knowledge of engineering design & development concepts of Mechanical system
  • Very good proficiency in SOLIDWORKS/. Prepare and execute design release in the 3D Experience PLM system. Experience in creating 3D designs and 2D drawings (e.g. SOLIDWORKS)
  • Relevant experience in Master Sections, system Integration, packaging, Concept creation, assembly processes of various Machine components.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Tooling and manufacturing processes
  • Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documentation Lead design FMEA studies and GD&T
  • Ability to perform Complete packaging/DMU study
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements
  • Maintain and develop Design Validation Plans (DVP), and Design Failure Mode Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Actively engage with Mechanical OEM / Tier-I design engineers to collaborate on design projects for trading off cost, mass, joining methods, molding and testing performance.
  • Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design
  • Collaborate with suppliers and support overall product development milestones and prototype/production build events
  • Must have ability to perform feasibility studies and define craftsman ship target.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical  subsystem design and development
  • Sound knowledge in Solid Works Part, Sub – Assy, Assy and 2D Drawing.
  • GD&T and Tolerance Stack up knowledge.
  • PDM/PLM Expertise
  • Having Experience with Electro Mechanical Machine Development processes an added advantage.

 REPORTING RELATIONS

  • Bottom UP: Manager – Product Engineering & Design
  • Top Down – Sr. Design Engineers, Design Engineers

  • Work is normally performed inside office premises; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises minimal; No possibility of exposure to contagious disease nor to chemicals.
  • It is subject to mental stress caused by rapidly changing business environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines.
  • Strict corrective initiatives must always be met and deadline induced mental stress is frequent.
  • Infrequent local travel is normal and need based.
