Manager – Design & Development is the key stake holder for the product design and development functions.  He will be the prime member of the design team, co-ordinate, support the team with relevant guidance for the Design and development of the product.  He will understand the department requirements and satisfy the needs respectively.

  1. Design of Mechanical components
  • Understand the Project Requirement
  • Define the Scope
  • Develop Concept Designs
  1. Design Validation
  • Validation of the Design through Design Calculations
  • Using CAE/CFD Tools Validation
  • Definition of Physical Test & Validation procedures
  1. Planning Project Resources
  • Identify the Team
  • Plan the Project Resources (Design Engineers/ Prototype Engineers)
  • Identify the Risks and Mitigation Plans
  • Project Timeline
  1. Monitoring Project Progress
  • Monitor the Progress of the project with necessary Project Management Tools.
  • Manage the Issues
  • Support / Guidance for the Team in case of requirement
  1. Delivery / Drawing Release Management
  • Ensure the Timely delivery of Design 2D Drawings
  • BOM Review and Release to Production Team
  • Release Support
  1. Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain the proper reports of the Development
  • Ensure the Documentation Complication.
  • Ensure Training provided to the Design team
  1. Proto building and Product validation.
  • Prototype Development Support
  • Assembly Instruction and Support
  • Testing and validation monitoring and support


Responsibilities include, although are not limited to the following:

  • Authority for mechanical engineering drawing release of the 2D drawings.
  • Provide line management to the team
  • Work closely with the Design Team to ensure departmental objectives are defined and met
  • Align, cascade and agree individual objectives to support overall achievement of the department and functional objectives
  • Provide a strong interface with other functions and teams.
  • Encourage and enable the team for delivery of work products considering cost, quality and timing
  • Perform reviews of work packages completed by the mechanical team and manage the engineering changes
  • Ensure requirements, specifications, standards and legislation are available to the design team and manage non-conformance
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of company’s product development process and ensure that it is understood, managed and executed
  • Support continuous improvement of relevant systems and procedures


  • Mechanical/ B.Tech Mechanical with 8-10 years of Experience
  • Sound knowledge in Solid Works Part, Sub – Assy, Assy and 2D Drawing.
  • GD&T and Tolerance Stack up knowledge.
  • PDM/PLM Expertise
  • Having Experience with Electro Mechanical Machine Development processes an added advantage.
  • VAVE Project Expertise.


  • Bottom UP: GM Product Engineering & Design
  • Top Down – Sr. Design Engineers, Design Engineers

  • Strict corrective initiatives must always be met and deadline induced mental stress is frequent.
  • Infrequent local travel is normal and need based.
